TLRI Red Pigs’ lineage consists of 87.5％ Duroc and 12.5％ KHAPS Black Pig. In appearance, their body is covered with red fur. In genetic background, TLRI Red Pigs carry the AA type of porcine stress syndrome gene, MM type of estrogen receptor gene, and HH6 type of heart fatty acid-binding protein gene, and these genes stand for the performance of anti-stress, high reproductivity, and high meat quality. Furthermore, this combination of genotypes will introduce the benefits and perform the heterosis through crossbreeding with other pigs. Therefore, TLRI Red Pigs show impressive potential to be used as a terminal sire for commercial crossbreed hog production.
